Full Holtzman Genealogy Report

George Junior's Father-in-Law:
The birth record shows that Georg Heinrich Sturm was born August 12, 1767 and christened on August 15 in Oberbetschdorf, Bas-rihn Alsace, France.

Georg Heinrich Sturm's father's name was also Georg Heinrich Sturm. This birth record shows that his mother's name was Christiana Barbara Fischer, born March 16, 1745 and christened March 22, 1745 in Oberbetschdorf. On her record of birth you can see the names of her "Pater" and "Mater" which were Christian Emanuel Fischer and Marie Dorothea (not sure of the spelling of the mother's maiden name).

Oberbetschdorf and Niederbetschdorf are right next to each other. George and Christiana's marriage record was found in the parish records in Niederbetschdorf. They were married May 3, 1763. Christiana would have been 18 at the time of her marriage. I initially though that Georg Heinrich (Jr) was the first born but now I think there were 1 or 2 siblings born before Georg Heinrich (Jr) and probably female.

George Junior's Mother-in-Law:
Look at the 1836 Niederseebach census (right), third line down. The name is Barbe Kochersberger, age 72, living in the household of George Holzmann and Madeliene Sturm and family. Barbe Kochersberger does not appear in the 1841 census.

A search of the death records for Niederseebach 1833-1842 (lower, center) shows Barbe Kochersberger died 15 JAN 1839. Her spouse was Henri Sturm.

A look at Barbe Kochersberger's declaration of death (lower, right) shows she was the first death in Niederseebach in the year 1839. The date is declared as 14 JAN 1839. She was 76 years of age upon her death. She lived her married life in Trimbach were her spouse Henri Sturm preceded her in death at the age of 36. The declaration was witnessed by George Holtzmann.

So, we have Barbe Kochersberger (Sturm) 1763-1839 as the mother-in-law of George Holtzmann, mother of Madeleine Sturm, spouse of the late Henri Sturm, my 4th great grandmother and your 4th great grandmother as well.

Finally, a look at the death records for Trimbach (lower, left) in the year An XII (the 12th year of the French Revolution) shows Heinrich Sturm (eighth line down). His death was in the third month (Frimaire) of the 10 month French Republican calendar and the eight day (octidi) of that month. This all works out to: 18 NOV 1803 in our Jullan calendar. Having died at the age of 36 would make his date of birth about 1767. Henri Sturm was our 4th great grandfather.

How about that!!!! (David Heintz)

Heinrich Sturm 1803 Death Record
The name Heinrich Sturm can be found on the 5th line down including the very top introductory line that says "Mayor Von Trimbach" just below the word Republic. The author's "h" looks like a "y".

The writing style is typical of the times and it appears to be a blend of French and German dialect. For example "Von" is german for "in". On the 3rd line down "monat Frimair" is German for month Frimaire. Frimaire was the month in which Heinrich was born.

Heinrich Sturm can also be found on the 8th line down. And on the 8th and 9th line down we see the name "maria barbara Kochersberger". She also appears in the 12th line down followed by the word "mutter" which is again German for "mother". Mother of "Adam Sturm" if I read it correctly. (David Heintz)
