Upstairs Apartment
633 Chestnut
June, 1973-July, 1974

Elderly Mrs. Poff lived downstairs and rented us her upstairs apartment for $70 a month. Utilities averaged $23. Ray banks gave us an old stove and refrigerator. Dee Carpenter, with whom I had lived, gave us a good deal on furniture at her store. Living it up!

Susan and Marty were regulars. As were Mike and Rusty. Bill and his friends came for a visit. A little loud for Mrs. Poff. Kathy and I were sleeping. No idea that our Florida visitors kept late hours. Kathy soothed that over with Mrs. Poff. But the next time visitors were too loud, we decided it was time to leave and buy our own place.

Susan, My Very First Sister
When we returned from our honeymoon, Susan was at our apartment. Said she'd read a newspaper ad where "you could get divorces cheap and quick: only $10." (Susan's Humor)

Susan and Marty were Regulars..

..as were Rusty and Mike..

..and occasionally Bill and Friends.

Never had sisters before.

Usually tired:
full time job, 40 mile commute, 22 hours.
