On the back of a small picture of Earl and found in her diary, Ruth Holtzman Hey (Earl's half-sister) had written: "Gone. Feb. 1937. April 8, 1938 (I think) arrived in Bridgeport, Conn. Went to see Louise Holtzman this A.M. Also went to Earl's grave."

Observations from Documents

Draft Registration Card: This 1916 card shows Earl as single, a shop foreman for Bridgeport Brass Co, with 7 years of military service as a Sergeant in the Coast Guard, and claiming exemption as a Foreman in an armament plant. Address: 668 Myrtle.

Bridgeport Evening Farmer: Bridgeport Newspaper shows Earl as "Eligible for Coming Draft," July 14, 1917. Bottom of 3rd column, red highlight.

1927 Bridgeport City Directory: The 1927 Bridgeport City Directory shows Earl employed as an ironworker. Address: 20 Arch.

1929 Bridgeport City Directory: The 1929 Bridgeport City Directory shows Earl employed as a mechanic. Address: 35 Winter.

1930 Federal Census: The census shows Earl, employed as a rivet maker, and married to Louise E., age 40, with a step-son, Earl E., age 20, working as a doorman in a theater, and with a step-daughter, Catherine A., age 17, working as a cashier in a theater. Address: 276 Arctic Street.

1931 Bridgeport City Directory: The 1931 Bridgeport City Directory shows Earl employed as a chaeffeur for Eastern Petroleum Products. Address: 233 Jane.

1937 Bridgeport City Directory: The 1937 Bridgeport City Directory shows Earl as having died on February 9, 1937, and Lousie E. as his widow. Address: 805 Old Town Road.
