Where Steve was born
During Spring break, 1973, we took a last family vacation visiting the Texas aunts, uncles, and cousins. Merkel first, of course, visiting Uncle Buster and Aunt Paulene Hester. Then old family friends, Mary Lou and LD in Colorado City. Uncle John and Aunt Mildred Rister in Levelland. Aunt Maureen Jaynes came from Tucumcari to see us at Aunt Mildred's. We continued to Carlsbad Caverns, Pecos, Fort Davis (the last Cavalry outpost, closed in 1891), San Antonio and its Riverwalk, and the Houston Astrodome.
