The Underground Railroad
Uncle Ed's mother was a "Deaver." The Deaver's were Quakers as well as conductors and engineers on one line of the Ohio Underground Railroad. Uncle Ed's 3 Great Grandfather was Jonah Deaver, brother to David Deaver, stationmaster at Deavertown, Ohio, an underground rail station. Some of David and his wife Affadilla's conductor work is featured in this 1931 booklet.
