Clement Hey built an "ultra-modern dairy barn" in 1937, a mile north of Sterling on Freeport Road. The Sterling Gazette carried the news. After taking photos of this barn and its equipment, still present, I looked up the brand on the internet, expecting to find nothing. Instead, DeLaval's website claims to produce over 50% of the dairy equipment worldwide. "Uncle Clement, you always were ahead of the market." When Abram Hey left Hey Brothers in the early 1950's because of his heart attack and consequent disability to manage operations, he traded his shares in Hey Brothers for this dairy farm. |
