Great Grandmother Susanna and her brothers and sisters were all born in Russia. All died in South Dakota, three in Bridgewater, three in Freeman, one in Yale, and Great Grandmother Susanna in Huron (notes from grandson Jacob Tschetter).
CASTLE GARDEN
Before Ellis Island, Castle Garden (now Castle Clinton) served as America's immigration station for 8 million immigrants from 1855-1890. Although the original records were lost in a great fire, you can still view Anna's record as a 47 year old immigrant. Anna departed Bremen and Southampton on the ship Main, arriving at Castle Garden on September 4, 1875.
