Entry from Grandma Holtzman's Diary: November 19, 1927. "Ruth-Abe Hey married. Left for Los Angeles. November 21. Night. Got home again December on Saturday, 6 p.m. Gone just 4 weeks. Cold, oh so cold. Slept here with me Saturday night. Left for Dixon their home Sunday P.M. They seem so happy—why not—Abe is a dear good soul. Hope Ruth will always keep sweet."
(more entries from Grandma Holtzman's Diary concerning Abe and Ruth about this time)

Grandpa: First Plane Ride
(Back of photo: Abe's 1st plane ride.)
This is a Ryan M-1 mail plane (ID'd by a vintage plane buff, a friend of Grandpa's grandson, Chuck). First produced in 1926, the Ryan M-1 had a top speed of 125 mph. Ryan produced 36 M-1's. Charles Lindbergh considered modifying a Ryan M-2 before he finally ordered a different plane, the Ryan NYP, for his transatlantic flight to Paris.
