Great Grandpa John Hey lived many years with his daughter Mary at 1402 1st Avenue. John generally sat in the sun parlor and read a lot. He liked Zane Grey. Once I remember mom (Ruth Hey) took us kids to Haskell's and bought him a Zane Grey book for us kids to give him for his birthday. He worked at the dairy quite a while. He often went to the Odd Fellows, sat around, and played cards with the guys.
I vividly remember the time he was dying in Aunt Mary's upstairs bedroom. My dad (Abe Hey) said that he'd like me to go along. I remember him not feeling good at that time, and there was some conversation (recollections by grandson Phil Hey).
