The Golden Anniversary
before the Snow Storm
that Caused the Vegters to Move to Florida
Dad and Mom Vegter went to Winter Haven to celebrate Grandma and Grandpa Vegter's 50th Anniversary (February 24, 1971). After experiencing Florida winter including picking oranges, Dad came home to Wisconsin winter. After shoveling deep snow, dad came into the house and announced, "I don't know how or when, but we are moving to Florida." They were in Winter Haven by summer.
