Dean Brothers:
Elbert, Floyd, Birtus
|

Dad recollected that Birtus raised hogs. When Birtus took them to the sale, the hogs were in such demand that they were purchased before he even unloaded them from his truck.
"Birtus came out to visit his brother (Elbert Sr.). He had no children, but he did have a beautiful, white, long-haired dog he had brought along. My dad smoked a pipe. Birtus and dad went outside for a walk. When they returned, dad's pipe was gone. One of the smaller children had let the dog outside and noticed that she had something in her mouth. On checking outside, we all watched as the dog, Bertie, was working very hard at burying dad's pipe." (recollection by Maureen Dean Jaynes)
