Elbert Dean & Myrtle, 1947

(Following are recollections by grandson Grady Jaynes)
Everyone called Myrtle Hall Dean, "Mother Myrtle." She was a very happy, upbeat person. I never heard her use and unkind word or say anything bad about anyone. She loved to laugh and spend time with people. She always referred to Grandpa Dean as "Dean." "Dean did this.. Dean did that.." or when she talked to him her first word was always, "Dean."
Myrtle crocheted the most decorative pillows I have ever seen. She always used soft colors: yellows, blues and pinks. Most of them I remember were round. They were about twelve inches across and about four inches thick. The crocheting covered the entire outside of the pillow. They reminded me of a wheel of cheese.
Her house was always immaculate. No dust and nothing out of place. She had pillows and a few doilies on furniture and the couch and that was it. Everything was put up. The inside of the house was painted white. It was an old house but well-kept and well maintained. I guess they were a good fit. Grandpa kept the outside of the house, his shop and the yard in the same condition.
