Elbert Dean, Jr.
Mother was sick a lot, and my sisters took her to the doctor often. I'd sometimes see her lying across the bed holding her side and groaning in pain. Wore herself out having kids, I guess. Dad bought the place up at Baird. Real proud of it. Lots of fruit trees. Mother got so sick while we were up getting it ready. She died having never spent a single night there.
