Abram Hey, Paul Baer
brother-in-law of first wife
|

Grandpa loved to tell about an incident on motorcycle from his rural, mail delivery days. He hit a chicken with the cross bar of the side car. When he looked back, he saw the chicken running circles in the road at a dizzying pace.
According to nephew Gene Harshman, Clement Hey accompanied brother Abram on their motorcycle trip to California in 1914. Using back roads, they wore out 10 tires. Gene observes that, contrary to the Hey brothers reputation for being reserved, they must have been quite adventurous and intrepid to undertake such a trip.
