Dean-Hey Heritage

Camping on the Wisconsin River: We intended to camp at Devil's Lake. Wall to wall tents. So we left and camped all week at a public boat landing at Prairie du Sac.

Camping on the Wisconsin River: Watched DNR release tagged fish. A fisherman caught one yet that week. Later, Dad's pole was bending badly as he reeled one in. He warned us to step back. It was a 2' log.

Camping at Three Lakes: After WWII, Grandma and Grandpa Hey bought property on Island Lake at Three Lakes. Totally unimproved 15 years later. From birches, Dad built our own table, benches, and privy.

Camping at three Three Lakes: Dad woke us one night to watch a raccoon licking out the inside of our empty jelly jar. Watched a fisherman land a muskee and beat it with a hammer after landing it in boat. Told dad he didn't want it to get away. Later, we saw it displayed on ice on a Three Lakes sidewalk: biggest catch of the season so far.
