Enjoying Oranges

Everyone remembers Uncle Dave's visit. Totally unexpected. Uncle Dave had done very well as a farmer in South Dakota; he owned several sections. "Uncle Dave slept in my bedroom. After Uncle Dave was gone, I lifted up the doily on my dresser. Underneath was a $10 bill. Pretty exciting. Uncle Dave had left Mom $100. Pretty generous to a family with a bunch of kids." (Judy Vegter)

with our Family

I wasn't in Florida at this time. I knew Uncle Dave from S.D. days. When Grandpa needed hay for his few calves, we would take Dad's 1 1/2 ton truck to Dave's farm for a load of hay. I'm not sure whether it was a gift or Grandpa had to pay for the hay. Grandpa lost his ranch/farm during the 30's. Dave somehow survived and ended up well off. (Jerry Vegter)
