In addition to ponies Myrtle, Candy, and Peanuts, we owned many pets and animals: Jerry owned Caesar. After Grandma Hey passed away, we inherited her dog Snoopy. We raised sheep and calves.
Corn pickers weren't so thorough in those days. Sometimes we walked Grandpa Hey's fields in the fall with gunny sacks, gathering still plentiful corn. Dad came and picked up the piles with his pickup. We either fed the corn to our animals, or dad sold it.
