September, 1950. Took Greyhound Bus to Denver (CWC). Met Jan & parents, Sue Hey, and also Bob & Sally Schuneman & Dorothy Winn from Sterling. (Went to Estes Park where many of these pictures were taken.)

November, 1950. Thanksgiving College Break. I had a new Jeepster Convertible. Jan stayed with Sandra & Sue during vacation. Introduced Jan to my family. Drove Jan to Amarillo in Jeep. Coming back by myself, ran off road (No harm. Thank You, Lord). December, 1950, moved to Colorado City, Texas, (Abilene Reporter-News Dealership)

Mom & Dad Get Engaged
January 23, 1951

January, 1951. Drove Jeep to Denver and gave Jan engagement ring this night, January 23. Coming home alone in snowstorm, wrecked Jeep in Pueblo, Colorado. Stayed in hotel. Repaired jeep. Returned to Colorado City (6 inches of snow in Colorado City).

March, 1951. Jan came to Colorado City (Hotel Gosnell). 4 days only. Picked her up & returned to Amarillo Train Station (recollections by Dad)

One month later Grandpa had his severe heart attack. Dr. Pohly advised against his going to the high altitude of Denver the next spring when I graduated from CWC so Gram came alone and took movies of it for him.

When we rented the horses, the owner said they might be full of spunk because it was the final weekend of the season, and they hadn't been ridden much recently. When we were almost back to the stable, we came to a meadow, so we raced. I couldn't stop my horse, so dad had to ride over, grab the reigns, and stop it.
