The history of Stone School mentions Abe Hey's sister Mary and brother Henry as having perfect attendance for 1894. (Jerald D. Glawe, owner of the home which was Stone School, and creator of the Stone School web site, had a copy of this class photo of 1897. My mom's (Jan Hey Dean) copy was superior. Jerald copied mom's photo and used it for this site.) (Stone School Class of 1897) Abe Hey's sister Mary and brother Clement are listed on the Eighth Grade class list for 1895. (Stone School Eighth Grade Registration: 1886-1954) Uncle Clement Hey attended the first reunion of the tight-knit Stone School community, at Sinnissippi Park, July 3, 1976. (Jerald D. Glawe used material from Clement Hey's memoir for this page.) (First Stone School Reunion) Evidently, historians had difficulty identifying the exact location of the earlier Coe School. In a stroke of luck for history, Clement Hey writes about his parents (John Phillip Hey and Elizabeth Baer) attending Coe School. Uncle Clement also provides a hand drawn plat map showing its location. Read about this fascinating confirmation of the site of Coe School. |
